Overview
Madras Medical College (MMC), established in 1835, is one of the oldest and most prestigious medical colleges in India, located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was originally set up to train British soldiers, and over time, it has grown into a prominent public medical college. MMC is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Campus and Facilities
MMC's new campus was constructed on the former central prison premises, spanning 325,000 square feet. The six-storeyed campus houses modern classrooms, labs, and hostels for nearly 1,250 students. The original MMC buildings now host the College of Pharmacy, School of Nursing, and newly introduced courses in fields like radiology and speech therapy.
The college also boasts a heritage red-brick building called the "Red Fort," which will soon be transformed into a museum showcasing MMC’s history.
